o:-) Remedy for Depresion:'( and Worries
The scholars of Islam have extracted from the Qur’aan and the authentic Sunnah many remedies and cures to help us in our daily affairs and remove our problems.
1. In al-Saheehayn it was reported from Ibn ‘Abbaas that the Prophet Muhammad,
sal-lal-laahu-alaihi-wasallam used to say, when he felt distressed:
“La ilaaha ill-Allah al-‘Azeem ul-Haleem, Laa
ilaaha ill-Allah Rabb il-‘arsh il-‘azeem, Laa ilaaha ill-Allah Rabb is-
samawaati wa Rabb il-ard wa Rabb il-‘arsh il-kareem”
“There is no God except Allah, the All- Mighty, the
Forbearing; there is no god except Allah, the Lord of the Mighty Throne; there
is no god except Allah, Lord of the heavens, Lord of the earth and Lord of the
noble Throne.”
(Al-Bukhari 8/154, Muslim 4/2092, )
“La ilaaha ill-Allah al-‘Azeem ul-Haleem, Laa
ilaaha ill-Allah Rabb il-‘arsh il-‘azeem, Laa ilaaha ill-Allah Rabb is-
samawaati wa Rabb il-ard wa Rabb il-‘arsh il-kareem”
2. It was reported from Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (Sal-lal-laahu-alaihi-wasallam) used to say,
when something upset him:
“Yaa Hayyu yaa Qayyoom, bi Rahmatika astagheeth
(O Ever-Living One, O Everlasting One, by Your
mercy I seek help).”
“Yaa Hayyu yaa Qayyoom, bi Rahmatika astagheeth
3. It was reported that Asmaa’ bint ‘Umays (may Allah be pleased with her)said:
The Messenger of Allah (sal-lal-laahu-alaihi-wasallam)
said to me: “Shall I not teach you some words to say when you feel distressed
‘Allah, Allah, Rabbee laa ushriku bihi shay’an’ Allah,
Allah,
"my Lord, I do not associate anything with Him."
‘Allah, Allah, Rabbee laa ushriku bihi shay’an’ Allah,
Allah,
(Abu Dawud 2/87. See also Al-Albani, Sahih Ibn Majah 2/335.)
4.It was reported from ‘Abd-Allah ibn Mas’ood that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “No person suffers any anxiety or grief, and says:
‘Allahumma innee ‘abduka wa ibn ‘abdika wa ibn amatika, naasiyati bi yadika, maadin
fiyya hukmuka, ‘adlun fiyya qadaa’uka, as’aluka bi kulli ismin huwa laka
sammayta bihi nafsaka aw anzaltahu fi kitaabika aw ‘allamtahu ahadan min
khalqika aw ista’tharta bihi fi ‘ilm il-ghaybi ‘andak an taj’ala al- Qur’aana
rabee’ qalbi wa noor sadri wa jalaa’a huzni wa dhahaaba hammi’
“O Allah, I am Your slave, son of Your slave, son
of Your female slave, my forelock is in Your hand, Your command over me is
forever executed and Your decree over me is just.
I ask You by every Name belonging to You which You
named Yourself with, or revealed in Your Book, or You taught to any of Your
creation, or You have preserved in the knowledge of the unseen with You, that
You make the Qur’aan the life of my heart and the light of my breast, and a
departure for my sorrow and a release for my anxiety” but Allah will take away his sorrow and grief, and give him in their stead joy.”
‘Allahumma innee ‘abduka wa ibn ‘abdika wa ibn amatika, naasiyati bi yadika, maadin
fiyya hukmuka, ‘adlun fiyya qadaa’uka, as’aluka bi kulli ismin huwa laka
sammayta bihi nafsaka aw anzaltahu fi kitaabika aw ‘allamtahu ahadan min
khalqika aw ista’tharta bihi fi ‘ilm il-ghaybi ‘andak an taj’ala al- Qur’aana
rabee’ qalbi wa noor sadri wa jalaa’a huzni wa dhahaaba hammi’
(Ahmad 1/391)
When his companions got scared of the coming of the Day of Judgement,
Prophet Muhammad sal-lal-laahu-alaihi-wasallam instructed them to recite:
Hasbunallahu Wa Ni’mal Wakeel.
Abu Sa’id Al-Khudri (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: Messenger
of Allah said, “How can I feel at ease when the Angel of the Trumpet, (Israfil)
has put his lips to the Trumpet and is waiting for the order to blow it”. He
(the Prophet) perceived as if this had shocked his Companions, so he told them
to seek comfort through reciting: ‘Hasbunallahu wa Ni’mal-Wakeel [Allah (Alone)
is Sufficient for us, and He is the Best Disposer of affairs (for us)]“. (Al Bukhari)
In the event of fear and anxiety one should seek the help of Allah and
frequently recite this ayah of the glorious Qur’an “Hasbunallahu wa Ni’mal
Wakeel” “Allah (Alone) is Sufficient for us, and He is the Best Disposer of
affairs (for us).” (3:173).
Say:
‘Hasbun Allahu wa Ni’ mal Wakeel‘;
This has been translated as
“God suffices me and He is the best guardian.”
It is an excellent way of reminding us that whatever worries we have or problems we face, God has the answer and cure to all of them and is the only
One who can really do what is best for us.
